The history of ORGAPLAN Logistik GmbH goes back to the eighties. With 35 years of company history, the logistics consultancy is a traditional company in the industry. The consulting company was founded in 1987 in Ahrensburg by Hans-Günter Werner and Hans-Jürgen Eltzschig. Initially, the customer focus was on the food product range. Logistics centers were designed, processes optimized, bonus systems developed and production facilities optimized.

History and Development

Over time, the Team of ORGAPLAN Logistik GmbH was constantly expanded by further Logistics advisor expanded. The first employees from the early days are now the managing partners.

The conception of new warehouse constructions, the optimization of processes in the warehouses of the trade represents a core segment of ORGAPLAN to this day. Countless storage concepts from conventional to automated locations have been planned, implemented and put into operation by ORGAPLAN Logistik GmbH as a neutral planning partner.

Investment in key technologies

The importance of dynamic simulation models was recognized early on. ORGAPLAN invested in professional route planning software as early as 1988, when computers were not yet widespread in companies. With the help of this consulting service, which was highly innovative at the time, the fleet of many customers was optimized.
The potential for optimization that could be leveraged by customers in route design and resource planning justified the very high investment in IT-supported route planning for a young company. This service is still an important part of ORGAPLAN’s consulting portfolio today.

In addition to the classic trade, more and more branches and product ranges have been added over time. Today it is difficult to find an industry that has not yet been the subject of a consulting project.

In-house development of planning tools

Another important pillar of logistics consulting was developed in the 1990s. For most companies, this period was characterized by expansion due to the eastward expansion. During this time, an important and highly efficient software tool was developed in-house, the strategic dynamic site simulation called “StaSim“. This strategy tool is now available for various industries and represents a crucial tool for developing the optimal location and delivery concept on behalf of customers. Be it because sales are growing, order and customer structures are changing or entire sales areas are being taken over. This simulation model has become indispensable when considering European site networks in modern network planning.

Thanks to the in-house development and constant further development of StaSim, all logistics costs along the supply chain can now be calculated dynamically and alternative scenarios can be evaluated.

While the consulting fields are constantly expanding and new logistics requirements are added, in particular due to increasing digitization, there is one constant in the history of the company: the company location in Ahrensburg. However, in beautiful Ahrensburg between Hamburg and the Baltic Sea, we had to move several times to accommodate the constantly growing team.

Today the company is represented by the three managing directors Binoy Chatterji, Ingo Schalow and Stefan Ulrich, who have been with the company for more than 25 years.

Then as now, every new project is started and completed with passion. The long-standing customer relationships and constant growth prove this corporate strategy right to this day.
